Our Favorite Fishing Movies

Some people don’t really think fishing is an exciting sport but we beg to differ. There have in fact been tons of feature films made about fishing and here are a few of our favorites we think our readers should look for the next time they’re scrolling the DIRECT TV channels.

A River Runs Through It: The classic fisherman’s movie, this one starred Robert Redford and featured some of the most beautiful country the US has to offer. It’s got a heartwarming plotline and lots of great fishing lingo to boot.

Moby Dick: Remade in 1998, this classic is the truest tale there ever was about the plight of the commercial fisherman. If you like classics you’ll love this one and the newer version is, dare we say it, better than the original.

Grumpy Old Men: Walter Mattheau and Jack Lemmon starred together in this buddy comedy which was a tale of fishing, friendship and aging. It’s hilarious and charming and if you’re in the mood for something lighter, this is your flick.
